The Orange Blossom Ranch Community Development District is a local, special-purpose government entity authorized by Chapter 190 of the Florida Statutes as amended, and established on November 17, 2016 by the Collier County, Florida Board of County Commissioners, Ordinance No. 2016-33 as an alternative method of planning, acquiring, operating and maintaining community-wide improvements in planned communities.
The Orange Blossom Ranch CDD encompasses an area of approximately 219.79+/- acres within the unincorporated area of the Collier County. The land within the District is generally located north of Oil Well Road and east of Palmetto Ridge High School.
The Orange Blossom Ranch CDD is also authorized to exercise special powers to plan establish, acquire or reconstruct, enlarge or extend, equip, operate and maintain additional systems and facilities for Security, including by not limited to guardhouses, fences, and gates, electronic intrusion-detection systems, and patrol cars, when authorized by proper governmental agencies; except that the District may not exercise any police power, but may contract with the appropriate local general-purpose government agencies for an increased level of services within the District boundaries.
A Community Development District (CDD) provides the 'solution' to Florida's need to provide valuable community infrastructure generated by growth, ultimately without overburdening other governments and their taxpaying residents. CDDs represent a major advancement in Florida's effort to manage its growth effectively and efficiently. This allows a community to establish higher construction standards, meanwhile providing a long-term solution to the operation and maintenance of the community's facilities.
